WebMar 5, 2012 · I just got a 2000 R1100RT almost 2 years ago. If this is your first beemer, the first time you shift gears, you will swear the transmission is falling apart. It clunks loud and notchy compared to most Japanese bikes. As long as it doesn't grind and shifts when you want it to, it's probably good to go.
