At this junction, approximately half of the fibers from each optic nerve cross over to the other side of the brain. This optic nerve crossover makes it possible for the brain’s visual cortex to register equal visual fields from both eyes. WebGametes formed by this type of crossing over are called single cross over gametes (Fig. 5.10A and B). (ii) Double Crossing Over: In this type two chiasmata are formed along the entire length of the chromosome leading to breakage and rejoin of chromatids at two points.
